Not only are there financial\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">benefits, but opportunities to appeal\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">to stakeholders and help the local\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">and global environment as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p2\">UNDERSTANDING THE\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">MAGNITUDE OF THE\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">FOOD WASTE ISSUE<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">Food waste is the single largest\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">component of the country\u2019s overall\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">waste stream, accounting for roughly\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">21 percent of the total amount\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">of garbage reaching landfills and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">incinerators. Considering 20 percent\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">of methane emissions come from\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">landfills, the connection between food\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">waste and pollution is clear.
